From the illusion of creating a sensory immersive experience to the question of constructing the virtual reality “situation” (space, everyday context), this major solo exhibition “Construction of Reality” by Argentine artist Leandro Erlich can give an interesting and unique visual paradigm.
About the Lecture
On Saturday, Dr. Jiang Dandan, a Ph.D. supervisor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, will combine the art critic Jonathan Crary's book “Techniques of the Observer”, which is on the theoretical analysis of the modern visual mode revolution, to explore the “illusion magic” presented in Erlich's solo exhibition.
About Dr. Jiang Dandan
Dr. Jiang teaches the Department of Philosophy of School of Humanities and Institute for Advanced Study in European Culture of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and she holds a post of a special researcher and doctoral supervisor. She is also a communications researcher and a director of foreign research projects at the Collège international de philosophie (CIPh, Paris). She used to be an associate professor at the Si-Mian Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities at East China Normal University. She has served as a visiting scholar at the Foundation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (FMSH) and The Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences of National Taiwan University, and a visiting professor at the Department of Philosophy of Université Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne.
She was awarded the Certificate of Foreign Scholars by Mairie de Paris (2009), the honor of Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques (2015) and the “Shanghai Pujiang Talents” (2010). She is the editor-in-chief of the “FESTINA LENTE” literary group (the Vihorae branch of East China Normal University Press, which has published more than 60 kinds of books so far), and several of them involve art theory. One of the invited French speakers of the first World Philosophy Night Event organized by UNESCO (November 2015).
